On malignant narcissism psychologist currently agree that this hybrid is best described as using psychopathic traits to obtain narcissistic supply. My experience of them though has been slightly different; their psychopathic traits tend to be stronger than a narcissists, which has the effect of enhancing their communication, such that they are better at influencing people into their beliefs and fantasies. The narcissistic delusion does exist, but it is not debilitating enough to make them entirely unrelatable to someone that is not experiencing it as is the case with the narcisist.
