Dysfunctional families have sharply risen in recent years since 2015 with 43.5% of adult children in the US being forced to go no contact with their parents at some point.

At the same time, a shocking 50% of adult children in the UK were forced to cut ties with their parents, with 77% describing emotional abuse as the cause.

But why is this dysfunction so common? And what is causing it?

Why It Occurs

Family dysfunction starts happening because one or more narcissistic delusions have taken over and consumed the family unit.

This means that there are no longer individuals in the family; the individuals don’t exist and don’t matter, only the preservation of the ideology of the false belief matters.

The false belief always has a head family member who was the first to create the delusion.

In these families, those people are usually the mother, father, or grandparent.

This member subsequently shares the fantasy with other members, until everyone is infected.
